Future Destruction?

Amanda Cohen

As the years go by technology only becomes stronger. The future is closing in and by doing so our world as we know it is changing. As we speak, inventors are finding new technology and ways of the future. However, technology does have a down side.

Firstly, the future is slowly eliminating our freedoms and making us a slave to technology. It becomes so addicting that a huge part of the population procrastinates on doing work, because of the joys of technology. Soon enough, technology will become what everyone relies on. Instead of using dictionaries, everyone will rely on spellcheck. Instead of going to the library, the world of knowledge is at your fingertips.

Education is becoming affected as well. Schools are beginning to rely on laptops in class, instead of the old-fashioned pencils and paper. Studies have shown that notes are better understood and have more of a chance of being memorized if they are being hand-written.

Some jobs are in danger of being taken over by technology. For example, it used to be people helping you over the phone, but now it is often being done by computers and robots. If this continues, employment will be in some departments harder to find. However, some jobs that we do not have today will be added in the future. Why? Because of technology.

Another con to technology is that religion is fading since the technological world is growing stronger and scientific beliefs are increasing. Statistics show that by 2091, 90% of religion will be gone.

These are only some of the negative aspects that are being lead by technology and there are many more. Technology is eliminating our freedom, changing our education, endangering jobs and fading religion.

The role that I plan to play in the future is to embrace the non-technological world, such as paper and pencils. I alone can not have a huge impact of the world of technology, but I can try my best not to get too caught up in it.
